Trip to Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bangalore!

Lalbagh Botanical Garden- Bangalore

Labagh or the Red Garden is situated at the heart of the city. Labagh is near Wilson Garden/Shanthinagar locality of Bangalore. Its a place filled with nature. You can enjoy the beauty of nature at its best. Many unique birds you can see inside the Lalbagh.

The construction of Lalbagh was started by Hyder Ali. Labagh was completed by Tipiu Sultan- The ruler of Mysore. It is believed that Tipu Sultan bought plants and trees from throughout the world to get this botanical garden completed.

One of the best things about Lalbagh that I liked the most is that it encourages the citizens to be healthy. The proof is- during morning hours the entry is free to encourage the morning joggers!

One of the famous attractions of Lalbagh is the Glass House. The Glass House hosts two famous flower shows- one on 26th January and another on 15th of August.

Start of Journey:

I started my journey from Marathahalli, Bangalore. I took a direct bus to Richmond Circle. Many volvo buses ply frequently on this route- ITPL to Majestic. I took 335E bus and de-boarded at Richmond Circle. From Richmond Circle, you can either take an auto for Rs 30 to Lalbagh or you can take a bus to Shanthinagar BMTC Bus Station. From Shanthinagar BMTC station, you can just walk to Labagh as the distance is just 200 metres from there. I took the first option- an auto from Richmond circle to Labagh.

You can now get flowers delivered at Richmond Town free of cost!

Entry to Labagh:

I reached Labagh around 11:00 AM. I purchased a ticket for entry prices at Rs. 10, which is a genuine cost used for the maintenance of the Botanical Garden- Lalbagh. The sides of the main entrance are beautifully decorated with hanging Bougainvillea plants. The first impression itself was awesome!

What to see:

There are lot of things to see inside the garden. You can start your journey with a peek inside a Chinese Garden. Inside it there are some artifacts as well as a pond.

There is a temple inside the Garden situated on top of a small rocky hill. You can visit the temple. From there you can have a nice view of the city.

Afer the temple, you can go further inside and you will see a glass house. Its the same house which hosts the annual flower shows in Lalbagh. After crossing that, you can find many lawns covered with soft and fresh grass. You will find lot of people enjoying there and having some snacks.

Next, you can go to a lake inside the Lalbagh. The lake is very beautiful. You can even find some fishes swimming in it if the weather is clear. Also, if you are tired, you can sit beside the lake and relax. You can find many vendors selling some food items near the lake. You can have them if you are hungry. But the cost of food items are really very high inside the Lalbagh. Even a cup of tea costs around 20 to 25 Rs.

Inside Labagh, you can find many types of birds such as Myna, Brahmini Kite, Pond Heron, Parakeet, etc. Also, you will find lot of monkeys near the Bamboo plantation near the lake.

You may also visit a rose garden inside the Lalbagh. It has really some big and beautiful roses. Also, there is a big lotus pond near the lake.
